Overhead to Underground
Project: 27th St. from South
Street to Calvert Street

LES will begin a
construction project in
mid-July to place the
overhead electric
distribution lines
underground along 27th St.
from South Street to Calvert
Street.
This project is part of a
long-range program to bury
more overhead electric
facilities pursuant to the
Lincoln-Lancaster County
Comprehensive Plan that
encourages such conversions
wherever feasible and
affordable.
After this distribution
project is completed, LES
will be upgrading the street
lighting system. Wood poles
will be replaced with steel
poles fed with underground
wire. The new poles will be
located along 27th St. from
South Street to Calvert
Street. Field adjustment of
the proposed locations may
be necessary due to
conflicts with existing
underground utilities.
