Community engagement

At LES, our commitment to community goes far beyond providing safe, reliable and affordable electricity. It’s about making our community a better place to live. To do this, we have numerous ways we give back, including educational outreach programs, volunteering in the community, sponsoring health and service charities, developing energy-efficiency incentives, hosting events and so much more. We encourage you to JOIN US and help make our community a better place to live.

Classroom programs

Teachers, let students immerse themselves with hands-on experience in the electrical industry. We offer numerous high-quality programs for schools in our service area. LES experts will take students through fun and informative presentations, including electricity basics, electrical safety, high-voltage demonstrations and more. Programs are designed for different age groups, including kindergarten through sixth grade. All programs are developed with Nebraska state standards in mind. Let students learn about the power of energy and its importance in our community — have an LES expert speak in your classroom.

We’re local people serving local people because we believe in the power of our community. Both as a company and from our employees, we support numerous health and service charities designed to enhance the quality of life in the Lincoln area.

Zoo Lights Powered by LES
Zoo Lights Powered by LES

Zoo Lights Powered by LES transforms the Lincoln Children's Zoo into one of the largest light shows in the Midwest, displaying over 250,000 colorful and vibrant energy-efficient LED lights. LES also hosts additional educational Energy Nights during the event. Proceeds from the event go directly to the zoo to care for the animals.

Lincoln Cares Program

Lincoln Cares is the City of Lincoln’s voluntary program that allows LES customers to add $1 to their monthly bill. Contributions go directly to Parks and Recreation, Lincoln City Libraries, Aging Partners and programs not currently supported by the City budget.

Solar benches

LES has five solar-powered benches in Lincoln: Holmes Lake near the playground, Pioneers Park near the Nature Center, Densmore Park near the playground, Mahoney Dog Run and Lincoln Children's Zoo. Charging stations are available at various events around town.

A portion of the savings from paperless billing customers has helped restore endangered tree populations in the Lincoln area's public parks. LES has worked with community partners to promote native trees, identify areas of need and help restore healthy, diverse tree populations all over our service territory. Go green and sign up for paperless billing!

AMBER Alert

Making sure our community is safe for our children is a top priority. LES joined the AMBER Alert system to assist authorities in child abduction cases.
